Try one of the following:

-continually right-click while it's loading
-do the same thing with the spacebar

The former worked for me, the latter has worked for others.

Are you running the game in Win98 compatibility mode?

Wasn't that fixed with Beta 2?

Yes, the compat mode isn't needed anymore.

How about posting your logfile.txt here after you've launched TI?

Surely its in other folder than TS as its stand-alone... ? or issues can pile up.

No, it's standalone. Putting it in TS' folder will most likely just break both TS and TI.

yep that did it, I suggest a warning somewhere as it is a TS mod, so people will generally assume it goes into TS's folder #Tongue

That can't happen if you follow the installation steps, written in the download topic.
Aro wrote:

It comes with a folder in the archive, so if you extract TI, it will automatically create a new and empty folder for TI.

It's not made clear that the thing is meant to run in a seperate folder, and 2ndly I downloaded from moddb and the warning is hidden in a "show more info", which if you don't notice is easy to miss.

I actually looked for a readme and couldn't see one, just a credits file, perhaps a readme with said info in it would have helped as I would have read it there Smile

It has been said to be stand-alone a million times, I'm pretty sure that's enough to suggest it isn't supposed to be installed on top of TS.

I haven't heard that, and I'm sure there are others out there that haven't Razz
Whats so hard about having a 4kb file in there with the instructions, heck I'd be happy to make it for you and go the extra mile with a full on 'manual' in pdf format Smile

Hey, you actually gave me an idea.
Do you want to create a complete manual for TI in pdf format?
This wouldn't have only the installation infos, but also the Draft Players Manual. We can then also give you some special renders of the buildings and units, which you could place next to the describing text.

Something like a complete manual like in Tiberian Dawn with some nice pictures.

There could be also a troubleshoot section, with the most common problems like:
-black screen due to ddraw.dll
-installation on top of TS
etc

That's precisely what I was thinking LKO Wink, perhaps even with a logo in the BG or something. I can create PDF's quite easily, just need the info to put in and it'll be done Smile

this error has nothing to do with ddraw.dll - remember what I posted in that error thread a while ago

the minimize thing happens whenever I have Steam running.
If that's the case, be sure that's off an try again.
also, clicking a lot while it's loading helps too

he said 'the screen goes black', so I assumed, since I got the same error with ddraw, that it would be the cause #Tongue
BTW, I had the minimizing error, too. Cklicking helps, really. But since I dont got steam started since a while, the problem doesn't occur - maybe it's really, just as you said, steam :S

Mind, that TI is a standalone. It doesnt require TS, and if it got mixed with it, it gets broken.
Extract TI into a seperate folder and start it with the compatibility mode. If it should give you a black screen, search for a dll named ddraw.dll and delete it.

If it still doesnt work, try to redownload TI

You realize that Twisted Insurrection does not require Tiberian Sun to run? All you need to do is download the latest Twisted Insurrection build (release), extract it to ANYWHERE on your computer, even your desktop if necessary, run GAME.exe and it will run perfectly fine. If you're still experiencing problems, right click on GAME.exe, click properties and set compatibility to Windows 98 (Shouldn't matter if you're running on XP or Vista).

So... You get an unzipp error. IIRC, the latest build is a .7z zip -> try to download a program which can unpack .7z (mabe WinRAR?)

I remember this error when I was a beta tester. the dll was the issue after talking to Aro, that solved the problem. I also know I can't have firefox, google chrome, or Internet Explorer open when trying to play. I didn't need to run compatibly 98, I just ran as admin on Vista & Win 7

...if he gets an error when unpacking it's just a corrupted file issue, and he just needs to redownload it again.
