On some multiplayer maps, I see small oil pumps that are capture able yet I have no idea what their purpose is right now in the beta. I assume they'll be used to provide a steady stream of funds to you......

If I remember correctly, TS lacks the oil derrick logic necessary to do such a thing... I think either they provide a bonus amount of money on capture or you can sell them for money, but I forget which.

either sell them for 1500cr, or destroy them with a unit to gain veterancy for this unit (the oil pump is worth 3000cr so any unit can quickly gain veteran/elite level when destroying these)

Correct statements above. In the future, Oil Derrick logic is meant to become a flawless possibility and once it does we will make use of it.

Wasn't it already made possible with SuperJoes discovery?
Applying a map trigger which makes it deploy und undeploy at specific intervalls, making it unselectable, giving the oilderrick a free unit which would have SpeedType=somethingimaginery which in turn gets sold the moment it spawns.
Or was it deemed to much work/has it any flaw I haven't heard of yet?

SuperJoe's workaround is too much wrok for me to consider taking on when a much easier alternative is around the corner.

both workarounds are quite unsuitable for TI
technique a (the old way) requires lots of trigger,building, unit work and a special placement on the map (walls around it)
technique b (the new way) needs 1 of the 4 tiberiumtypes and the oil derrick has to have a 4x3 foundation (oil pumps are only 1x1 and TI uses already all 4 tiberiums)


Though maybe with the new spawner features Iran added, it might be possible to get something similar in an easier way done.
e.g. by using the Spawn1-8 houses to spawn player owned units next to the captured oil derrick. (the spawned unit being like the free unit in the old technique, which gets automatically refunded when being spawned)
I just don't know how you can make the oil pump spawn the unit only for the house that captured it, as there is no "get house from building" trigger.
