I present you the otsmapgen GUI:
(requires windows 2000 or greater and at least .NET 1.1 - which you should have by now)

Development Features:
Extensive use of GDI+
Real-Time transparency and animation effects
Smooth layout

The screenshot is quite boring, it is pretty amazing when it is running. Just shows you how powerful GDI+ actually is - I suprised myself.

Not bad, though:
The whole interface flashes when you move from one tab to another.
The features pop up in between each tab, making the flashing even more annoying.
Why do you list features? If the user has the program then obviously they downloaded it, and so obviously they know what it is!
And there's no way to move it around. #Tongue

As always, feedback during the beta stage is much appreciated.

my comments:
Red color sometimes can irritate eyes. Better to make it in green for example.
CLR + GDI+ Very Happy.

IMO this tool should have standard windows UI.

Agreed.

I am attempting to start off fresh, with a much less "fancy" GUI and focusing on a productive one.

I am working on a 3D terrain viewer feature, and a 3DS exporter atm - nothing fancy - but may take a while given my limited free time.

I have produced a "quick and easy to use" GUI that includes a moving display of the 3D terrain for a 360 degree view (with different colours to represent heights) and no need to fool around with any arg values or command prompt.

Be aware that to use this GUI you need .NET V1.1 installed to your PC (can be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=262D25E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en) also you should have direct x 9.0 C installed to your PC (the August 2007 update is available from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=cb7397f3-0949-487b-9247-8fee451bf952&displaylang=en).

Be aware that installing it to a directory that contains space characters in the folder names will make it unable to output / display the terrain.

I have packed it all into a redist package, so it automatically sets everything up for you (and checks you have .NET 1.1 installed).
