OK, This is the third mod announcement for Evolution. As I wasn't entirely happy with the first or second attempt at it, I decided to start over. I don't have too much to show at the moment excluding progress on Evolution's Desert and Temperate theater, a big thanks to Droke for his excellent Terrain Renders.
Evolution is a project that I've been working on alongside Twisted Insurrection in order to have another creative outlet (While Lin Kuei Ominae does his build work). Twisted Insurrection will remain as my primary project and will have the higher focus as usual, but when I have nothing to do for Twisted Insurrection or lack ideas on what to do for it, I Have this project to work on, plus with the latest Ares release, I've got the additional Motivation.
Evolution is going to be a total-conversion mod for Yuri's Revenge. I've had this mod in the back of my mind for years as some of you may remember from the past two attempts, but all those attempts didn't fall for no reason, every attempt looks more promising than the last. Evolution features two completely new factions (with sub-factions) and everything from the original Yuri's Revenge will be replaced from Loading screens to Trees. Replacing everything in Yuri's Revenge is no easy task for one man to handle, I have one or two people helping me out with planning and Hyper working on faction and mod logos, but I'd like to build up a proper team. My current staff members are:
- Fenring: AI Coder
- Droke: Textures / 3D Artist
- Crimsonum: Planning
I'm looking for people to help in the following criteria:
- 3D/SHP Artists
- Voxel Artists (Highest Priority)
- Music and or Sound Artists
- Animation Artists (Explosions etc.)
There are a couple of people I'd like to hear from if they're interested: ConMan, Ronco, Mig Eater, Starkku, Azri_Apoc, Apollo and MadHQ.
Here is what I have to show at the moment, I also have loads of Infantry in my folder, but they're in need of major editing so I shall show those later when they're ready:
Desert
Temperate
The main reason the last attempts failed was due-to lack of assistance, It's almost impossible to work on a Total-Conversion mod all by yourself. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on what you see and whether or not you'd like to apply to joining Evolution as a staff member. Please only apply if you have plenty of experience in what you do.
Faction and Story information will come at a later date.

Yeah, I still have them but the shadow frames are messed up along with a lot of other problems... Do you still have the 3DS files for them? I know you're not really into modding that much any more, but I'd love it if you could help me out with Infantry.
Excellent. If you can come on MSN at any point this week I'll give you necessary Information (Soldiers with the grey/silver scheme like in the old evolution and the other faction have a rusty red scheme).
I know this is set on an alternate earth, but do you plan on keeping a Allied/Soviet scheme or are you going outside of the norm on this one?

Unfortunatelly voxels are hardcoded to use the regular UNITEM palette, so even changing the palette doesn't change their appearance. So we're forced to use the normal schemes.

One faction will use a Metallic silver scheme using Green remap, the other will use a rusty brown scheme using orange remap (as seen on the Combat Crawler). I did have plans to use a Rusty red scheme, I even made the new UnitTem palette but as Crimsonum said, there are hardcoded issues with new palettes and voxels. As for keeping Allies / Soviets / Nod / GDI / America / China / GLA / Whatever, not a chance.

YES! This mod is sounding better and better, and i usually cant stand RA2:YR Mods.
Combat Crawler looks interesting, i cant wait to see more

All these voxels were given to me by SaneDisruption (edited by myself) and are now part of Evolution. SaneDisruption is not a member of Evolution or working on the project, he's just given me the rights to all of his unused work which is now property of Evolution.
